2009 South Africa Tour
Click here to follow the 2009 U17 South Africa Tour which departs on 24 July.
Dedication, excellence, teamwork and having fun characterises our rugby playing at Saracens. Nowhere are these more on display than during the traditional Under 17s overseas tour. In 2009 we are going to tour in South Africa, a nation renowned for its rugby passion and excellence as most capably demonstrated in the last Rugby World Cup and have been chosen to host forthcoming FIFA World Cup in 2010.
Based in Cape Town, departing July, our
squad
of players, accompanied by RFU accredited coaches, medical resource and supported by family, will play a varied
programme
of games against teams from clubs, schools and townships.
For the team this experience will put to the test the many years of honing and developing of both individual and team skills. It is also an unique opportunity for the boys to experience life as a teenager in South Africa as some accommodation will be with local families.
The squad are very keen to contribute to the great South African rugby heritage in sharing their sport through demonstrations, hands-on coaching sessions as well as providing equipment and kit to township communities.
